Flower defends England medical staff despite mounting injury worries

Chittagong, Fri, 05 Mar 2010 ANI

Chittagong, Mar 5(ANI): England coach Andy Flower has defended his medical staff despite a growing injury crisis in the team's fast bowling department.

The England team is already without James Anderson, who was rested for the tour of Bangladesh after a knee problem. While, Stuart Broad and Graham Onions are undergoing MRI scans on lower back problems.

"The pace of the game in all three formats means there is a lot of stress on bodies. I've heard criticism of the preparation, but I trust our medical staff," The Sun quoted Flower, as saying.

"You can't get away from injuries to fast bowlers. That's the nature of their job," he added.

Ryan Sidebottom was the latest to join the list after he was ruled out of the test series against Bangladesh due to a thigh injury.

He has played just six Tests out of a possible 22 since 2008, but Flower refuses to give up on the 32-year-old.

"As long as he's bowling well we will always give him another chance," Flower said.

Meanwhile, Steven Finn and Tim Bresnan have been drafted into the Test squad as cover for Broad and Sidebottom. (ANI)
