London, Dec 28 (ANI): FIFA president Sepp Blatter has been found to be involved in a contract controversy after it became clear that he oversaw the award of a World Cup contract worth 342 million pounds to a company partly-owned by the firm his nephew runs.

World football chief Blatter heads the 24-man executive committee, which awarded the 380,000-ticket hospitality, contract exclusively to MATCH Hospitality in October 2007.

MATCH is partly owned by Swiss sports marketing company Infront Sports and Media, whose president and CEO is Philippe Blatter, Daily express reports.

FIFA has confirmed president Blatter was involved in the decision to appoint MATCH. If all the tickets were sold, MATCH would bank an astonishing 342 million pounds.

"The decision to appoint MATCH Hospitality followed a public tender and was made by FIFA as a whole, including the 24 members of the executive committee. The rights were awarded to the highest and best bidder," said FIFA spokeswoman Delia Fischer. (ANI)
