Karat avoided talking to reporters who were waiting outside the BSP chief.
Reportedly, the two leaders discussed about the formation of a 'national alternative' to the two mainstream parties.
The meeting comes in the wake of Mayawati unilaterally announcing that her party would contest all the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier on Saturday, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu had called on both Karat and Mayawati, and according to sources he had discussed ways to evolve the 'Third Front'. (ANI)
