'Homeless' Gaddafi dumps himself in Trump's yard in the Big Apple

New York, Sep 23(ANI): Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who was finding it tough to find a house in New York during his first visit to America, has now reportedly found a house owned by Donald Trump in the city.

Gaddafi was unable to find a house, as New Jersey residents and a real estate broker were furious over the hero's welcome accorded to Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset al-Megrahi. The latter was convicted of 270 counts of murder for his part in the December 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie in Scotland.

Colonel Gaddafi has now rented a part of Trump's Seven Springs estate (a 213-acre estate, with a 39,000sq ft mansion) in the luxurious enclave of Bedford in New York's northern suburbs, The Times reports.

"The property was leased on a short-term basis to Middle Eastern partners, who may or may not have a relationship to Gaddafi. We are looking into the matter," The Westchester Journal News quoted Sergeant Thomas Diebold, as saying.

Several people are still angry with Gaddafi.

Andy Spano, a county executive, said: "There is no legal way to prevent this as he is a head of state, despite the fact that he has a long history as a terrorist. However, from my point of view, he is not welcome in Westchester."

"This sponsor of terror is not welcome here. Several residents of this area were horrifically murdered on Pan Am Flight 103. Gaddafi's presence in our community is a slap in the face to the memories of these victims and their families, adding to the recent outrage of the hero's welcome Gaddafi staged for the convicted murderer released by Scotland," said John Hall, a Congressman.

Gaddafi will attend a meeting of the UN Security Council with US President Obama and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Thursday and will also address the Council on Foreign Relations. (ANI)
