Pak Govt. compensates Gojra victims

Gojra (Pakistan), Aug. 10 (ANI): Pakistan's Minorities' Affairs Minister Shahbaz Bhatti has distributed compensation money to the families of the nine deceased who were killed in anti-Christian riots in Gojra last month.

 

"The government will make every possible effort for the rehabilitation of the victims' families of Gojra incident, besides providing them justice," The News quoted Bhatti, as saying.

 

All nine victim families of Gojra riots have been given cheques amounting to 0.5 million rupees.

 

Stating that 80 suspects involved in triggering violence have been taken into custody, Bhatti said that elements involved in violence against minorities would be taken to task after the Judaical Commissions' inquiry report findings on the incident are revealed.

 

"We will not allow the terrorists to hijack the Quaid-i-Azam's democratic Pakistan", he said.

 

Bhatti also urged the victims of the Gojra incident to return to their homes assuring that the government would provide security and protection to them.

 

He informed that committees is being established at every sub-districtlevel for the promotion of sectarian harmony. (ANI)
