Erode (Tamil Nadu), Aug 12 (ANI): A jewellery manufacturer created a record by manufacturing a gigantic gold bangle measuring six feet in diameter in Erode in Tamil Nadu.

Designed by Tata Gold Plus, the bangle has been made from 24 kilograms of gold with a width of six inches.

The bangle has bagged itself a place in the Limca Book of Records.

"I'm very proud to say that it's going to have an entry in the 2009 edition which is our special edition, for being the world's largest gold bangle. We've never had a record like this before," said Arti Muthanna Singh, senior editor, Limca Book of Records.

The bangle was made by the manufacturers with a purpose of doing the country proud. It took around 30 workmen to design the bangle in 21 days.

"This bangle conceived six months back. Thirty workmen have worked round the clock for about 21 day," said Natarajan, Vice President, Tata Gold Plus.

The bangle is attracting hordes of curious onlookers who throng the jewellery showroom to catch a glimpse of the world's largest bangle.

With festive season round the corner, the demand for gold jewellery is set to rise in India. (ANI)
