Delhi wakes up to heavy downpour and traffic jams
New Delhi, Aug 8 (ANI): The national capital, Delhi woke up to waterlogged roads and traffic jams on Friday.
Incessant rains have brought the entire city to a near standstill with many major crossroads being waterlogged. .
Traffic is still moving at a snail's pace.
"I have been stuck here since past 45 minutes. I started at around 8:15 a.m. from my place and could manage to cover only five kilometers in one hour," said Vivek.
Traffic policemen tried to help out, but some of the vehicles just refused to budge on the water logged streets.
"There has been a traffic jam for over one and a half hour now, I think now it will get cleared," Dharamveer, a traffic policeman, said.
Many people said that they had ventured out from their houses early in the morning to avoid traffic, but faced an equally harrowing time.
The meteorological department said that rains would continue to lash the city throughout the day. Spells of rain have been predicted for Saturday also. (ANI)
