Kathmandu, August 4 (ANI): The four major parties of Nepal, Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M), Nepali Congress, Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist-Leninist (CPN-UML) and Madhesi People's Rights Forum (MPRF) has agreed on forming a national consensus government.

The parties reached at the agreement at a joint meeting of the four big parties held at the Maoist parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar today.

According to Kantipur, as per the agreement, the Maoists, Nepali Congress, UML and MPRF will form a taskforce constituting their leaders to carryout homework for government formation.

The four-party meet also concluded that a national government must be formed, implementing the past agreement, in which the major parties must participate to give a complete form to the peace process, leaders participating at the meeting informed.

Mentioning the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) has been proposed as a solution, the Maoists have said that further discussions will be carried out to amend the CMP as all the parties have not approved it.

Emerging from the meeting, Nepali Congress vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel said although the major four parties have agreed to form a national government, the agreements made in the past have to be implemented.

Maoist spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara informed that the four parties will meet again on Tuesday to form a taskforce and to discuss the government formation and the implementation of the past agreements.

Earlier this morning, the Maoist leaders consulted with the fringe parties at its Constituent Assembly party office.

Maoist ideologue Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai said that all the parties, except the Nepali Congress, have agreed to form the government under the party's leadership.

CPN-UML General Secretary C. P. Mainali informed that his party is willing to appeal for the formation of the Maoist-led government.

The four major political parties were engaged in separate consultations on Sunday as well.

However, the stances of parties had further complicated the process of forming a consensual government for Maoists before Tuesday, the deadline given by the president. (ANI)
