Politicos slam UP govt over Barabanki incident, Akhilesh orders inquiry

New Delhi, July 07 (ANI): Political leaders on Tuesday slammed the Akhilesh Yadav-led government in Uttar Pradesh questioning law and order after Barabanki’s woman burning incident came to light. Congress leader RPN Singh demanded an independent judicial probe into the incident. BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that the state government has failed to establish law in UP. AAP leader Dilip Pandey said that people of Uttar Pradesh will soon reply back to the ruling government after its inability to ensure justice. Women’s Activist Annie Raja said that Akhilesh government should take cognizance of the incident and punish the guilty. Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident and strict action will be taken against the culprits. The victim was set ablaze in a police station for allegedly refusing to pay a bribe, According to reports, her husband was held in the same police station for questioning and when she went and asked the policemen to release him, they demanded a bribe. When she refused and there was a heated argument, the cops set her ablaze.
