More than seven kg gold seized from two air travellers in Kerala

Kochi, May 05 (ANI): Airport authorities seized around 7.2 kilograms of gold bullion in Kochi airport from two passengers returning from Dubai via Riyadh. The Air Intelligence Unit alongwith Air Customs seized gold biscuits from two air passengers, residents of Kozhikode and Kannur districts of the state. The passengers were intercepted when they were trying to escape through the Green Channel. Out of the 62 gold bars, 32 were concealed inside the coil of an AC Converter and remaining 30 were concealed inside the battery of a UPS covered with carbon paper. India is the largest importer of gold to meet domestic demand for the jewellery industry.
