LGBT community protests 'anti-people' policies of central govt in Bengaluru

Bengaluru , June 03 (ANI) : Members of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community held a protest in India's IT hub Bengaluru to demand equal treatment and raise their voice against 'anti-people' policies of the central government.The protestors raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government's 'apathy' towards the poor and the working class and demanded repeal of Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which criminalises same-sex relationships.Some of the protestors also criticized the health polices of BJP government, saying cut in health budget would affect those living on the fringes of society. Akhila added the HIV prevention programme would also be affected by the budget cut, resulting in further suffering and marginalization for those with HIV in India.
