International aid agency sets up facilities for Nepal's quake affected children

Bhaktapur, May 06 (ANI): Child-friendly spaces in relief centres are being set up by international aid agencies to help Nepalese children overcome the trauma of the devastating earthquake that hit the Himalayan nation on April 25. The earthquake has affected nearly 1.7 million children who have lost their houses, family members, schools, and healthcare centres, a senior United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) official said. In the historic town of Bhaktapur on the outskirts of the country's capital Kathmandu, children were seen dancing around tent poles and running after a football -- the result of aid agency World Vision's efforts to set up a child-friendly space. Erpaneh Ronging, a child-protection specialist from World Vision, said they were setting up such centres in various areas to keep the children occupied.
