Cyclone hits Purulia, no casualties reported

Purulia, May 26 (ANI): A cyclone in Purulia district of West Bengal caused widespread damages. No loss of life has been reported so far. The storm blew many rooftops, uprooted many trees and electric poles on Monday. The speed of the wind was around 80 kilometers per hour. A government college in the vicinity suffered huge loss of property. At least four cars were damaged and a wall also collapsed in the campus. However, all the students were safe as they were inside the building giving exams. Over 100 mud houses were destroyed in the cyclone. After the cyclone had passed, residents were out on the streets and helped each other in restoration work. Meanwhile, the Jharkhand-West Bengal road was blocked due to fallen trees and electric poles. District administration, police, electricity officers rushed to the affected areas to assess the damages and help in restoration work.
