Bihar: With no toilets in school, students defecate in open

Darbhanga, July 6 (ANI): Months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the call for construction of toilets across the country, students at a school in Bihar complained of lack of sanitation facilities in the institution. Students and teachers of a government school in Bahadupur area of Darbhanga district have to defecate in the open due to lack of toilets. Improper drainage system floods the school during monsoon, disrupting classes. One of the teachers cited lack of space for the absence of toilets in the school. On Friday a 17-year-old girl in Dumka district of Jharkhand allegedly committed suicide after her repeated pleas to build a toilet in the house were turned down by the family.
