Balochistan - A 'forgotten province'
Europe, Feb 18: Rich in minerals, oil and gas reserves, but in reality poor, backward and neglected. This is Balochistan, a 'forgotten province' of Pakistan. We traveled to Chagai district near the border of Afghanistan and Iran where people lead miserable lives. They lack basic facilities and amenities like education, healthcare, drinking water and electricity. A report by Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies says the region's economy and social development has fallen far behind other provinces in the country.
