Freedom of expression being attacked constantly: Ashok Vajpeyi on returning Sahitya Akademi Award (P

New Delhi, Oct 07 (ANI): Former Chairperson of Lalit Kala Academy Ashok Vajpeyi on Wednesday said that freedom of expression is being attacked constantly. Vajpeyi was speaking on his decision to return the Sahitya Akademi Award. Vajpeyi returned the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award recording her protest against the Dadri lynching case and the killings of rationalists MM Kalburgi, Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare. He said that there have been various reasons because of which he returned the award. He added that he has watching with despair the growing ethos of violence. Vajpeyi further questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence over the Dadri lynching case. Earlier in the day, Writer Nayantara Sahgal, the niece of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, returned her 'Sahitya Akademi' Award over the Dadri lynching case.
