10 Gir lions caged after rising attacks on local population

Amreli, May 24 (ANI): 10 out of a pride of 13 lions in the Gujrat’s Gir forest have been caged after these wild cats killed three people in the last two months. The man-eaters, once identified, would be sent to Sakkarbaug Zoo in Junagadh where such lions are kept, while the others would be relocated to a safer zone. An 11-year-old boy, identified as Jayesh Solanki, was attacked by Asiatic lioness in Dhari taluka. He was found dead in a mango orchard at Ambardi village of Amreli district on May 19. The process of awarding compensation of Rs 2.25 lakh to the kin of the victims has been initiated. People residing in the East Division of Gir forests have been issued warnings of possible big cat attacks from time to time. But they don't follow instructions, causing such tragedies to recur.
