Akshardham one of the most visited temple of Delhi is situated in the complex of East Delhi, India. It is situated on the banks of river Yamuna. It is the biggest Hindu shrine in the North India. This temple has got 20,000 statues, floral motifs and carved pillars and water fountains. The temple was developed under the guidance of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the spritual head of Bochasanvasi Aksharpurushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS).

Inside the Akshardham temple, there is 11 ft. tall gold coated statue of its leader Bhagwan Swaminarayan and around 20,000 statues, and carved pillars representing the Indian Heritage and culture.

The Temple at the center of the complex, was built according to the Vastu Shastra and Pancharatra Shastra. The main structure of Akshardham temple is surrounded by around 100 acres of lawn decorated with water fountains.

An amount of around Rs. 2 billions was spent on the building that took around 2 years to complete.

Cell phones and electronic devices are not allowed inside the temple; only wallets and small purses are allowed inside Akshardham Temple.

The time required for sightseeing is about 30 minutes or above. There is no Photography charges and the entry is also free.

Commonwealth Games Stadium:

Commonwealth Games Stadium is also located near Akshardham Temple. The Mega Sports event of Commonwealth Games were held in Delhi in October 2010. Humayun's Tomb New Delhi is one of the firsts amongst the monuments of Mughal architecture in India, this antique tomb was built by Hamida Banu Begum, Humayun's widow in 1562 AD. This tomb was designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyath, a Persian architect.
