Raja Pervaiz Ashraf is leader of Pakistan People Party (PPP) who has held various portfolio in Pak federal government including power ministry and information and technology ministry. He become the Prime Minister of Pakistan on June 22, 2012 when Pak parliamentarians elected him as the successor of Yusuf Raza Gillani, who was pronounced ?disqualified for PM post? by Pak Supreme Court.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf was born on 26th December 1950 in a middle-class Potohari-speaking family at Sanghar, Sindh that had political background. He graduated from Sindh University in 1970 and after completing his education, he initially done some business but later shifted into a real estate business. He entered into politics in 1990s and fought some elections. He lost three consecutive elections in 1990, 1993, 1997 but finally won two elections in a row in 2002 and in 2008.

He became power minister after winning the election in 2008 in coalition government of PPP, PML-N, ANP, JUI-F and MQM where he attracted severe criticism as there were huge power crisis during his tenure. He also faced graft charges in this duration. Leter, he became Minister of Information and Technology in 2011.
