The documents handed over to Pakistan included the certified copy of lone arrested terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab’s DNA report, replies to 10 queries asked by Pakistan and 15 booklets.
The move has come just after the ruling Congress-led UPA government was given the clear and strong mandate to deal with the economic and security situation in the region.
It is to note here that special public prosecutor Ujjawal Nikam had also urged the Mumbai Sessions Court judge M L Tahilyani to hand over some related documents to Pakistani government as it would help them to start proceedings against some terrorists held there in connection with the Mumbai strikes.
Kasab, who was accomplice in Mumbai carnage with 9 other terrorists, was held on the night of Nov 26 last year while attempting to flee after killing many people in an indiscriminate firing at CST station. Over 180 people were killed and above 300 injured in terrorist strikes at several places, including two five star hotels in Mumbai. His nine accomplices were killed in different commando operations.
