Maharajganj (Bihar), Apr 16 (ANI): The District Magistrate of Chapra District was on Thursday summoned to oversee and control an unruly scenario witnessed at a polling station in Maharajganj block of the district on Thursday.
According to the local villagers, certain political party hooligans threatened the electorate not to cast their votes for a particular candidate and some even tried to prevent them from going to polling booths.
The District Magistrate, who reached the spot earlier in the morning, assured that the polling process will continue smoothly during the day.
"There have not been many complaints from here. But we will discuss it with the presiding officer and the patrolling magistrate. The candidates who are responsible for the trouble, will be arrested," said B. Rajendra, District Magistrate.
The main contest in Chapra is between Rajiv Pratap Rudy and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. (ANI)
