Six students drown in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, March 29 (IANS) Six students of an army school, who had come for a picnic, drowned Sunday when they were bathing in the Gomti river in Uttar Pradesh, the police said.

 

The mishap took place near the Korriya ghat in Sitapur district, 80 km from here, district police chief Pritendra Singh told IANS by telephone.

 

 

The students were from the Army Public School in Lucknow and were picnicking since Saturday. The police have recovered the bodies, Singh said.

 

 

The children were in the age group of 17-20 years. Most of them were Class 12 students.
