BSNL offers telephone @ Rs 20 in rural UP
Keeping its promise to provide cheapest telecom facilities to the rural people, the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) - the largest public sector telecom company of India - has introduced a new plan for the rural regions of Uttar Pradesh. Now, UP villagers can get a new connection in Just Rs. 20 on installment basis.
Besides, village customers can also avail this plan at one time payment basis in which they would have to pay Rs. 200 instead of monthly charges. The company is also offering 20 free calls per month under this scheme.
Enhancing its share in the telecom market, BSNL is introducing several new schemes to cover more and more consumers including the landline network focusing on the marginal areas where telephone is yet to reach a large scale.
The urban areas of the country has been saturated promptly as the country is boasting a telephone density of 24.63% translating 281.62 million telephone subscribers in which mobile subscribers have dominated the portion of this share containing 242.4 million subscribers.
Up till now, BSNL absorbs a thick share of telephone connection both mobile and fixed lines in rural areas; to further enhance its hold, the telecom has also decided to make an investment of Rs 500 crore in the rural belt of West Bengal.
