Deoria (UP)/New Delhi, Mar 23 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati wooed voters in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria District on Sunday.
Mayawati said that her party would work for all people irrespective of caste or faith.
"If we form the Central Government, we will take care of everyone from all castes and religion. But, we will take special care of Uttar Pradesh," she said.
She added that her party would fight the election alone.
Meanwhile, seat-sharing talks between the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress seemed to be heading for a breakdown.
"In such situation any alliance will hurt the feelings of our declared candidates and party workers. We feel that Congress would also be unable to reap the fruits of this alliance.
The comment made by a senior leader of Congress has sent across a wrong message among party workers and half of the time will be wasted in striking a balance and uniting party workers of both parties," said Amar Singh, SP General Secretary.
The SP is reported to be ready to spare 17 seats for Congress, but it wants to contest atleast 24. A failure to tie up will result in a four-cornered contest in most of Uttar Pradesh' constituencies, with BSP, SP, BJP and Congress being the major contenders in order of stakes.
The SP had stepped in to save the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government last year when the Communist parties withdrew support. (ANI)
