'Daughter' Uma Bharati goes home to meet Advani

New Delhi, March 19 (IANS) It was like a daughter going back to her father's home, Bharatiya Janshakti Party leader Uma Bharati said Thursday after meeting Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani.

But she had no intention of going back to the BJP, the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister, who was suspended from the party in 2004 and then expelled in 2005, said after meeting Advani at his residence.

'It is like the homecoming of a daughter to a father. I don't intend to come back to the BJP as I am happy with my party,' Uma Bharati told a TV channel.

The saffron clad leader, who had a public falling out with the party at a televised meeting, is not contesting the Lok Sabha elections because she says her party does not have adequate funds.

'We decided not to fight the elections, so we had to support somebody. He is the person who has been involved in the Tiranga Andolan, in the Ayodhya movement, in the Jammu and Kashmir movement, so I will support him only as the prime ministerial candidate,' she said.

The Bharatiya Janashakti Party leader had said Wednesday that she would not just support Advani but also campaign for him in non-BJP dominated states.

'I will campaign for Advaniji in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and I would consider myself fortunate if I get even one vote for him,' she had said at a press conference.

In a letter addressed to Advani Tuesday, Uma Bharati said she supported him in becoming the next prime minister.

'I have decided that I would not become a road block in you becoming the prime minister. I want you to become the prime minister and help solve the serious national issues,' the letter stated.

She was suspended from the party in 2004 but her suspension was revoked in May 2005 due to pressure by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and she was appointed member of the party's national executive.

Later that year, she was expelled from the BJP when she revolted against the appointment of Shivraj Singh Chauhan as chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.
