New Delhi, Mon, 16 Mar 2009 ANI

New Delhi, Mar 16 (ANI): Election Commission on Monday issued notices to Bihar Director General of Police D. N. Gautam and Addition Director General of Police Neelmani following violation of the Model Code of the conduct as they had called on Chief Ministers Nitish Kumar at his official residence on the day of Holi.

Taking a serious note of the officer's misconduct, the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) had summoned them.

The CEO had also directed the state home secretary to reply to the notices within 72 hours to explain the reasons behind their visit to the Chief Minister's residence.

Meanwhile, ADG Neelmani clarified that he and the DGP had not visited the Chief Minister residence in personal capacity.

"We had visited to briefed the Chief Minister on the law and order situation in Saran district where three persons were killed. It was an emergency-call related to law and order that happened on the day of Holi. There was no motive behind the visit," he added

Elections to all the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar will be held in four phases. (ANI)
