Varanasi, March 13 (IANS) This ancient holy city whose lanes and riverbank resound with the chanting of prayers by priests and hundreds of Hindu devotees will now have a discotheque where people can dance to the latest Bollywood and international tunes.

'The stage is all set for the opening of the disco. Ninety percent of the preparations are over,' Niraj Singh, owner of the three-star Siddharth hotel that houses the nightclub and disco, told IANS.

The 1,400 square feet Agni (fire) disco has been set up with the assistance of Delhi-based architects and DJs.

'As the concept of a disco is new to Uttar Pradesh, we could not find anyone in the state who could assist us in our project. So we hired DJs and architects from Delhi,' said Singh.

To design some of the interiors of the disco, a Dubai-based company has also been roped in.

Although everything is in place for the nightspot to be opened within seven days, Singh has decided to wait till the time Bollywood couple Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan are free to inaugurate it.

'It is up to Aiashwarya and Abhishek to decide when they want to get the disco operational. We have already invited the couple and believe they will soon come to Varanasi,' said Singh.
