Raipur, March 10 (IANS) The Election Commission has asked the Chhattisgarh government to remove the state's Director General of Police Vishwaranjan, official sources said here Tuesday.
'The Commission has asked Chief Secretary P. Joy Oommen, in a written communication received here late Tuesday, to send a list of senior police officials for Vishwaranjan's replacement,' a top official said on condition of anonymity.
The move comes ahead of the Lok Sabha elections to be held April-May.
Chief Minister Raman Singh termed the Commission's decision as 'one-sided and unfortunate'.
Vishwaranjan had a row with the Commission since November when the state went to the assembly polls.
