DU fuchchas are all thrilled and excited for the new upcoming event of their life, namely their entry into one of the most desired universities of Asia – Delhi University. The stressful period of admission struggle is over and now they wish to breathe in the soothing air.
Where on one side, freshers are all busy in strolling in street markets and shops to find matching accessories for their new dresses, on the other side parents are busy in giving endless tips on code of conduct to their wards, especially the girls. They are teaching them how to walk into and get down from the buses, talk to seniors and not to waste time in canteens.
Apart from this, ragging, which has been an integral part of the campus and a fear-factor among the freshers, is taken as a very serious issue by the concerned authorities.
The college authorities have taken up spears against ragging to not let it spoil the feel-good feeling of the new students. But despite the ban, some stray cases of ragging continued to be reported on campuses and hostels.
Ragging bereaves the new faces of the charm of the college excitement and leaves them dull with fear. However, extra measures have been taken by the authorities to keep in check the activities and dictatorship of the senior students.
Special squads have been stationed across the campus to ensure a safe educational backdrop. In addition to it, the walls outside the campus colleges are used as warning posts by putting up posters upon them delivering the Supreme Court's directives against ragging.
Moreover, more than 20 colleges are going to install CCTV cameras to keep an eye on the activities of the students within the campus. These cameras will be installed within less than a month's time. The cameras are supposed to be proving a great aid in nabbing the culprits without any confusion.
