India ready to provide all information to Pak: Anand Sharma

New Delhi, Fri, 20 Feb 2009 ANI

New Delhi, Feb 20 (ANI): Union Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma has said that India would provide whatever clarifications are sought by Pakistan with regard to the recent Mumbai terror attacks, but in turn would expect sincere action from Islamabad.

Sharma said that India expected Pakistan to dismantle the terror infrastructure on its soil.

"As we have said that whatever information and details we can, we will be sharing. Whatever clarifications are sought, we shall give with a very clear expectation that there will be a firm, sincere and demonstrated action by the Government and state of Pakistan to dismantle the infrastructure of the terror outfits and to neutralise those which pose a threat to peace and stability in this region and are a menace to the entire world," said Sharma on the sidelines of his meeting with Mozambique's Foreign Minister Oldemiro Baloi here last evening.

He also condemned Taliban and said such forces should be defeated.

"Regarding the Taliban and other outfits which propagate a cult of violence and terror the forces which represent religious intolerance and take away the most precious of all the human rights that is the right to life, have to be confronted and defeated because there is no cause which can justify terror and violence against innocent and defenceless people," Sharma said.

It may be recalled that on February 12, Islamabad had acknowledged for the first time that the November attack in Mumbai was launched from and partly planned in Pakistan.

Pakistani investigators lodged a police complaint against eight suspects, including Mohammad Ajmal Kasab, a Pakistani militant caught alive by Indian forces during the attack.

Pakistan says six of the eight suspects, including one ringleader, are in custody and two are at large.

Pakistan has also urged Indian authorities to speed up their investigation and answer 30 questions sent to India by Pakistani investigators to help Pakistan's prosecution case.

India has welcomed the acknowledgement that the attacks were partly planned on Pakistani soil as a sign of a possible thaw in ties between the two countries. (ANI)
