India-Mozambique sign two agreements to strengthen economic cooperation

New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): India and Mozambique on Thursday signed two agreements for promotion of trade and Investment and strengthening the cooperation in economic, cultural, scientific and technical areas.

 

The agreements were signed by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma and Mozambique Foreign Minister Oldemiro Baloi at Hyderabad House.

 

Baloi is on a four-day official visit to New Delhi.

 

India also extended a line of credit of 25 million US dollars and one Million dollars as grant for capacity building and cooperation in areas like agriculture, energy and Human and Resource Development.

 

Addressing the media, Sharma said, the bilateral engagement is based on mutual trust and confidence.

 

Mozambique Foreign Minister also pitched for strong investment from Indian companies in sectors like minerals, mining, textiles and coal, oil and gas.

 

He strongly condemned the Mumbai terror attacks and promised all support to India to root out the menace of terrorism.

 

When asked about the terrorism outfits, Sharma said that there would be a firm, sincere and demonstrated action by India and Pakistan to dismantle the infrastructure of the terror outfits and to neutralise those who pose a threat to peace and stability in this region.

 

"As we have said that whatever information and details we can, we will be sharing, whatever clarifications are sought we shall give with a very clear expectation that there will be a firm, sincere and demonstrated action by the government and state of Pakistan to dismantle the infrastructure of the terror outfits and to neutralise those which pose a threat to peace and stability in this region and are a menace to the entire world," Sharma said.

 

Sharma also said that the terror outfits like Taliban, which propagated a cult of violence and terror has to be confronted and defeated.Regarding the Taliban and other outfits which propagate a cult of violence and terror, the forces which represent religious intolerance and take away the most precious of all the human rights, have to be confronted and defeated and justify terror and violence against innocent and defenceless people," Sharma added.

 

Baloi, who arrived here yesterday, has met Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs V. Ravi and reportedly discussed ways for promoting people-to-people and business-to-business contacts etween the two countries.

 

On Friday, Baloi will call on External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee at Parliament House.He will emplane for Dubai on Saturday night. (ANI)
