Promoting one family is a danger for the country's future: Modi

Nagpur, Sun, 08 Feb 2009 ANI

Nagpur, Feb.8, (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday attacked the Gandhi-Nehru family, saying that promoting one family is a danger to the future of the country.

"The members of the Gandhi-Nehru family have ruled the country for 37 years. If the past five years were also taken into account, then it would be a 42-year rule," Modi said.

He also claimed that the victory of Barack Obama in the US Presidential elections was a result of the American citizens being fed up with the stranglehold of a few families in politics.

Modi described Dr. Manmohan Singh as an invisible Prime Minister and said it was power without accountability for the family in the last five years.

He also made a strong pitch for making L. K. Advani the next Prime Minster of the country, saying the nation needs a strong leader like the Bharatiya Janata Party's Prime Ministerial candidate, not Manmohan Singh, whose presence was not even felt. (ANI)
