Bangalore, Jan 24 (IANS) Three morning walkers and a cyclist were killed in the upscale Indirangar area here Saturday when a car rammed into them, with the driver fleeing after abandoning the vehicle, police said.

'The incident occurred between 6 a.m. and 6.30 a.m. and all the four died instantaneously,' a traffic police spokesperson said.

One person injured in the incident has been admitted to a private hospital and there is no danger to his life, the spokesperson said.

Indiranagar is around 10 km from the city centre.

The four victims were R. Panathur, a doctor, Kempe Gowda, Siddaiah and cyclist Radhakrishna. While Gowda was around 65 years old, the other three were in their 50s, the spokesperson said.

From the documents recovered from the car, a Honda Accord, the identity of the owner has been established and investigations are on to ascertain whether he was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident, the spokesperson said.

While fatal road accidents are frequent in Bangalore, hit-and-run cases are rare compared to Delhi and Mumbai.
