BPL Mobile drives 'Reach Home Safely' campaign

Mumbai, Tue, 23 Dec 2003 NI Wire

BPL Mobile is driving the ‘Reach Home safely’ message this festive season; the campaign against ‘Driving after Drinking’ in its third year now is only evolving, and this time its not only about raising a concern, but it is also about providing a solution. With the strong belief that ‘Christmas is about a birth, not death’’.

In a sincere attempt to take up their share of social responsibility for a safer Mumbai, BPL Mobile in mid-September had tied up with IMI Mobile to help Mumbai Police track offenders of traffic rules by drinking and driving. This end to end solution enabled Mumbai Police instant access to the records of offenders at the site of offence, with their mobile phone.

When the Traffic Policeman stops a vehicle-driver, all he needs to do is SMS the driver’s license number to a confidential shortcode, to which the cop receives a prompt SMS in return. In a Scenario where the driver is a repeat offender, the SMS reflects details such as an account of the earlier offences while driving, license and vehicle number, the date & location of the offence/ s, and the type of offence he/she was booked for. The police can then instantly update his record and also slap a suitable fine or file a case on him. If the database reflects no previous details the Police would book him fresh, add a fresh record with this current information which will get reflected next time the offender is caught.

On being associated with the campaign against ‘Drinking & Driving’ in its third consecutive year, Mr. Sanjeev Chachondia, CEO, BPL Mobile said,” At BPL Mobile we are sensitive to the fact that Corporates exist & do business in a society. It is imperative therefore that we demonstrate our social responsibility in a tangible manner & our new print campaign is directed towards a pressing social cause. Together with the Mumbai Police, we've been campaigning to prevent people from drinking & driving, for a couple of years now. We live in uncertain times, now more than ever & I hope that all the citizens of Mumbai reach home safely to their loved ones this festive season."

The campaign discourages people to drive after drinking by urging them instead to choose to be driven by a chauffer from Party Hard Drivers. With the motto, ‘Get driven instead of drinking and driving’, trained chauffeurs from Party Hard Drivers will be ready to help and drive those even subscribers from other networks. Only one call on 9773865256 would take them to be dropped home safely.

Requesting party-goers to cherish the meaning of Christmas, the campaign wishes safety to BPL Mobile subscribers, hoping they step in the New Year with the same revelry. In addition a thank you card will be given to all users of the chauffeur service as a keepsake! It is to complete the loop which begins with the concerned citizen asking for the service and also to encourage them to keep repeating the positive behavior!
