Sunnyvale, Dec 16 (ANI/Business Wire India): Dr. Shan Nair, Co-founder of Nair and Co., a leading global integrated solution provider helping companies expand internationally, has won the 2008 "Bharat Samman", which will be presented to 20 prominent Indian expatriates.
Founded by the NRI Institute, a global non-profit, the 'Bharat Samman' annual awards recognize the economic and philanthropic achievements of the Indian Diaspora. The awards, now in their 20th year, are being presented in New Delhi as part of a three-day gala that begins January 9, 2009.
The award ceremony night, on January 10, will be held at the New Delhi's India Habitat Center. Indian Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, diplomats, government dignitaries, and industrialists are scheduled to attend the three-day celebrations that also include a reception for the awardees hosted by the British High Commissioner, Sir Richard Stagg and a dinner hosted by Chairman of India's Law Commission, Justice A.R. Lakshmanan.
Dr. Nair said he was proud of his Indian heritage and humbled that his compatriots had chosen to honor him.

The 'Bharat Samman' adds to a growing list of accolades for Dr. Nair who received the 'Gullands Excellence Award' and 'Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business' award earlier in 2008.

An Oxford-educated scientist, Dr. Nair began his career as a scientist in the U.K. nuclear industry but retrained as an accountant in the early 1990s. He founded Nair and Co. in 1994. He currently oversees the group's overall development, its policies, strategies and goals.
