Aizwal, Dec 11 (ANI): Fashion aficionados of Mizoram set the ramp on fire with their ethnic and chic designs in the first of its kind fashion week held in the State recently.
In a bid to promote the fashion industry in the State, 'Lakme designer week' the first ever fashion show in Mizoram was held here, in collaboration with various State Government departments and NGOs.
On display were an array of clothes designed by the budding designers and the models added the sheen to the designs as they walked the ramp with grace and panache.
The designs were mostly a fusion of western and traditional Mizo designs.
The event provided a platform for the budding local designers to showcase their talents and win an entry into the fashion world.
"This is the first 'designer week' that has ever taken place in Mizoram. We are here to promote the talents of the youth. When it comes to fashion industry, I think we are number one. We want to show the world the talents of the Mizo people so that this creativity becomes an industry for the people of Mizoram," said Ruth L. Rhangchel, organizer.
The northeastern states of India are well known for their fashion sense and colourful ethnic dressing style. The youth of these states are becoming more fashion conscious with each passing day.
The fashion show has opened a new window to only to the youth in the state. It has also given them an opportunity to display their fashion talents to the world. (ANI)
