Festival of Indian Panorama begins in New Delhi

The Festival of Indian Panorama – 2008 films is all set to spread colours for 11 days starting from Thursday, Dec 11-21 at Siri Fort Auditorium Complex, New Delhi.


A 26 Feature and 21 non-Feature films will be screened during this film festival, which is a special exposition of the entire Indian panorama package screened recently at the International Film Festival of India –2008 in Goa.

All Feature films will be screened in Auditorium 2 while non-Feature films in Auditorium 4.

Entry to all film shows during December 11-21 is free of cost but will be met through ‘Entry Passes’ only available at the counter at Gate No. 2 between 11am-1pm and 3pm-5pm.

Little Zizou (Gujarati- Hindi-English) directed by Sooni Taraporevala will be screened under the Feature film section at 6:30 pm on the opening day (Dec 11) in the presence of cast and crew of the film, comprising Sooni Taraporevala, Imaad Shah, Sohrab Ardeshir and Shernaz Patel.

A Malayalam movie “Memories, Movement and a Machine” directed by K R Manoj will be screened under the non-Feature category on Dec 17 at 4 pm.

In a bouquet of spectacular non-Feature films, Rajesh Jha’s “Children of the Pyre” documents the life of children in the famed burning ghats of Varanasi; Jabbar Patel’s Antardhwani captures the magic of the living legend of santoor, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma.

Debut directors like Krishnan Seshadri Gomatam (Mudhal Mudhal Mudhal Varai), Abhaya Simha (Gubbachigalu) and Umesh Kulkarni (Valu) bring with them a refreshing and incisive style of cinema, while the stalwarts like Adoor Gopalakrishnan (Oru Pennum Randaanum), Girish Kassarvalli (Gulabi Talkies) and S.Priyadarshan (Kanchivaram) respectively challenge ideas and established norms again with their films.
