Five die in West Bengal road accident

Siliguri, Dec 4 (IANS) Five people died and 20 others were injured after a mini-bus they were travelling in fell down a 150 feet gorge early Thursday in West Bengal, the police said.

 

The accident took place near a popular tourist spot Lava in Kalimpong district, 56 km from here.

 

 

'A mini-bus with 25 passengers was heading towards Siliguri town of the adjoining Darjeeling district from Lava early Thursday. The driver lost control and the vehicle fell down a 150 feet gorge. Five people died on the spot and 20 others were injured and admitted to the hospital,' Additional Superintendent of Police K.B. Dorji told reporters.

 

 

According to district sources, most passengers were residents of Siliguri and adjoining areas.
