Boeing 787 Dreamliner will save more fuel: Mike Bair

July 09: Boeing 787 has been ready for testing in the sky after a great success of its 786 model. America’s mega jet manufacturing company, Boeing has prepared a new lightweight mega model 787 to carry more passengers in less fuel. It is unveiled today for the general public.

Boeing 787, a super-efficient airplane is the world's first large commercial jet made of carbon-fiber composite materials, which is lighter than traditional models of the same size and shape. “Dreamliner weighs much less than other aircraft of similar size and burns about 20 per cent less fuel. Customers will enjoy forty to sixty percent more cargo revenue capacity. It will produce less carbon emission and quieter takes off and landings”, said Mike Bair on the eve of model exhibition.

It is assumed that the first flight of the first version of Boeing 787 may be possible in last week of August or the first week of September. Boeing 787 is being manufactured in Seattle unit of Boeing.

The first version of the 787, 787-3 designed for shorter flight can carry 289 passengers in two classes up to 6.500 kilometers safely, while the second version of the 787, 787-8, can carry 217 passengers in three classes, with a range of up to 15.700 kilometers and the third version of Boeing 787, 787-9, a longer version of the 787-8 will carry 257 passengers in three classes up to 15,400 kilometers. But these models will be ready till 2010.

Dreamliner has listed the first client to All Nippon because of its mega order of 52 jets, which is expected to deliver till May, 2008. Qantas of Australia has ordered the largest numbers of unit 85 while Air Berlin of Germany and Alafco of Kuwait has been ordered of 25 units and 22 units respectively. The list price of each plane is about $165 million and the total orders of 677 planes from 47 airlines have worth $ 110 billion.
