Sikh devotees recall Pakistani hospitality

Attari (Amritsar), Nov.20 (ANI): The 3,000 devotees returned from Pakistan today after attending the birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, the first Guru of Sikhs, at Nankana Sahib.

All devotees expressed happiness about the hospitality accorded to them during they 10-day stay in Pakistan.

The Jatha (group) also visited many other historical Sikh shrines Gurdwara Punja Sahib, Rohri sahib, Sacha Sodha Sahib, Dera Sahib and Kartarpur Sahib during their pilgrimage in Pakistan.

The leaders of the delegation also met with Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and urged him about Sikhs long-awaited demand for a corridor to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib from the Indian side.

Gurbachan Singh, the leader of the Jatha informed the media at Attari Railway Station that the Pakistan Prime minister assured them that the work is in progress.

Jatha leader Gurbachan Singh said that the Pakistan Premier also informed them that a road from Gurdwara to international border with India is also being prepared.

Gurbachan appreciated the arrangements made by Pakistan Evacuee Trust Property Board for the visiting devotees from India.

Master Inder Singh, one devotee, said that he was delighted to receive such a warm welcome from Pakistani people. He said the arrangements were very well organized and none of his family had any difficulty.

He hoped the Indian and Pakistani governments would set up of a visa center at Amritsar to popularize the Amritsar- Lahore and Amritsar Nankana Sahib bus service.

Surjeet Kaur, another devotee, said that medical facilities and the boarding and langar arrangements were very good. y Ravinder Singh Robin (ANI)
