Bhopal, Nov 14 (IANS) The Election Commission Friday warned candidates of the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls that if they did not file their poll expenses on time they would face a bar on contesting elections for the next three years.
"A candidate not submitting the poll expenses would be forbidden from contesting any further election in the next three years," Chief Electoral Officer J.S. Mathur said Friday.
According to the law, a candidate is required to submit details of his poll expenses even after depositing the security deposit.
The details of the expenses to be filed include the personal expenses of the candidate, of the political party concerned and expenses by any other organisation or by any other person. Only the expenses incurred on the party's star campaigner, in accordance with the list submitted by the respective political parties, would be exempted. All other expenses would be added to the candidate's account.
Also, if a candidate contested from two constituencies simultaneously, then he had to submit a list of expenditure for both the constituencies separately.
