BJP getting soft on terror: Shakeel Ahmad

National,Politics, Wed, 12 Nov 2008 IANS

New Delhi, Nov 12 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is now getting soft on terror and is trying to protect terrorists, Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmad said Wednesday while reacting to the statement of BJP president Rajnath Singh that the central government is framing Hindu leaders.

'Regular exposure of the people of sangh parivar involved in terrorism has made BJP threatened. They know that things cannot be hidden anymore. BJP is now getting soft on terror and is trying to protect people involved in terrorism,' Ahmad told reporters.

Rajnath Singh accused the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government of framing Hindu leaders in the Sep 29 Malegaon blast case in an attempt to win the assembly polls.

Ahmad alleged that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was trying to create problems for the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) which is probing the Malegaon blasts.

He said that the Congress party has been against every kind of terrorism whether it is jehadi terrorism or terrorism by the sangh parivar.

'We know the sacrifices of our army for the country. Army has been a clean organisation and we are proud of it. Just because of few people, whole army need not to be blamed,' said Ahmad.

Two army officers - Lt. Col. Shrikant Purohit and Major (retired) Ramesh Upadhyaya - have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the Malegaon blast.
