New Delhi, Nov 8 (IANS) The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday rejected a survey conducted by Star News and A.C. Nielsen that predicted a third chance for the Sheila Dikshit led Congress-government in the Nov 29 assembly elections.
'We are fighting these elections on ground realities and common man issues. When elections are fought at the grassroots level, their results are totally different from what the surveys show,' Delhi BJP media spokesperson Ashok Aggarwal said.
The survey suggested that the Congress will lose its vote share by 6.1 percent compared to the last elections in 2003 but would still manage to win 38 seats in the 70-member assembly.
It had suggested that though BJP and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are poised to increase their vote-share, they would not be able to edge out the Congress. It had suggested that BJP would get 29 seats, with an increase in its vote share by 4.2 percent.
Aggarwal reminded that similar surveys were shown on news channels and print media during Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, but the results were totally different.
'The BJP respects the fourth pillar of democracy, the media, but wants that media should take into account all the sections of society while conducting poll surveys,' he added.
