Raipur, Nov 8 (IANS) The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Chhattisgarh Saturday strongly objected to alleged 'indecent language' being used by Congress leader Ajit Jogi at various public meetings while referring to the BJP government.
'Jogi is regularly using words like `labra, beiman (cheats, dishonest)' and such at his public meetings to target the BJP government in general and Chief Minister Raman Singh in particular,' Ramesh Bais, BJP Lok Sabha MP from Raipur and former union minister, told IANS.
'Some of his words in local Chhattisgarhi language are indecent and he should not lower standards of decency to attack opponents,' Bais stated. 'The BJP is fighting the elections on issues and we never use such language.'
BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad too had expressed strong displeasure over Jogi's language at a press conference here this week.
However, Congress state spokesperson Ramesh Varlyani said: 'The BJP's objection to Jogi's words is the outcome of an apprehension of losing the assembly polls, we can understand their (BJP leaders) frustration.'
The state goes to polls for 39 seats Nov 14 and 51 seats Nov 20. The results will be declared Dec 8.
