Reliance ADAG to capture entertainment market

June 21: As part of the market strategy the Reliance Entertainment of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group is now venturing into film making. The group is busy these days signing deal with various production houses and film makers to produce films and distribute them worldwide.

Though Reliance has already got 51 per cent stake in Adlabs Films Ltd., the biggest so far in the industry, but this new venture will operate separately. This probably may bring a change in business trends in Bollywood. Reportedly the group has signed agreement with filmmakers like Farhan Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Anurag Basu, Ritesh Sidhwani and are in process of signing with others.

Reliance Entertainment from last couple of years is trying to make its grip firm in the entertainment world with its investment in some notable media and entertainment corporations like Balaji Telefilms, TV 18 and TV Today. Already it has its own satellite channels in terms of DTH, online gaming, Internet and mobile portals and also FM Radio business through BIG 92.7.

The BIG 92.7 FM is the largest private FM radio network with 12 radio stations across the country and Reliance’s involvement in film production can be cooperative for the whole Bollywood industry.

However, there is possibility that corporatisation may hamper the true spirit of film making and hence the company is trying to sign agreement with filmmakers of all genres. This in turn can provide different kinds of films targeting different media consumers.

With film production, Reliance industry is now in all four media: films, television, mobile and internet. And along with Adlabs, it is now on its way to be the biggest production house in Bollywood. So in this digital age where information, communication and entertainment will be the key drivers the entry of corporate house into the entertainment world can only end in providing adequate resources that can expand the media horizons.

Well its appreciable as reliance is coming into Entertainment Industry this a plus point for Bollywood as well as to the country as it will generate more employment and revenue both, which will further be more benificial to the government aswell in terms of tax. i must say that we all as being a part of India should appreciate this and get ready to give our support to Indin co's like Reliance, instead of MNC's if Indian Co's will take the initiative so India would soon become an undefeatable country.
