National, Thu, 30 Oct 2008 IANS

New Delhi, Oct 30 (IANS) The home secretaries of India and Nepal will discuss various issues, including terrorism and trans-border crime, in a two-day meeting here - a first after the formation of the new government in the neighbouring country.

"Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta would be discussing various issues relating to security, border management, and training and capacity building of officials/police in Nepal with his counterpart Govinda Prasad Kusum," the home ministry said here in a press statement.

"Effective cooperation for combating terrorist activities and trans-border crimes will be high on the agenda," it added.

The meeting, which begins Friday, would also review the progress in implementing the decisions arrived at the last home secretary-level talks held Sep 25-26, 2007 in Kathmandu.
