Delhi Audit trounces OBC in DSA institutional league

A brace each scored by experienced Hitender Singh Rawat and Sameer Jung powered Delhi Audit to register an emphatic 6-1 victory over Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) in a Group ‘B’ match of the DSA senior division institutional football league played at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Wednesday.

Naresh Mann and Rishi Kapoor slotted the other two for Delhi Audit to round off the tally while Sanjeev Sharma saved some grace by scoring the lone consolation goal for his OBC, which along with FCI, Headquarters, and Delhi Audit that completed its league engagements with 12 points from four matches made it into the super-league, which will be starting from April 15 at the same venue.

FCI, North Zone, topped the group ‘A’ and will be joined by Reserve Bank of India and ESIC in the super-league while in a ‘A’ division match, Delhi Development Authority scored a solitary goal victory over Bank of India which left the field staging their protest against a penalty awarded to DDA team by referee CR Singha in the 35th minute of the play.

The league sub-committee awarded the match to DDA with full three points after considering referee’s decision.

Open trials for Delhi state girls’ under-17 soccer team from today

The Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) will be conducting an open selection trials to select the Delhi state under-17 girls’ team for the 4th National sub-junior football championship in Assam at the Janaki Devi Memorial College, Rajinder Nagar, at 1.30 p.m. on Thursday.

Interested players may report to Dr. Mukesh Saggar, Physical Education Director, Janaki Devi Memorial College or the DSA Secretary, N.K. Bhatia, at the venue with their original birth certificates.

The National championship is scheduled to be held in Dipu, Assam from April 25 to May 11. A total of 24 teams have been divided in eight clusters for the preliminary league with the winners of all eight groups will make it to the quarterfinals. Delhi has been clubbed alongwith West Bengal and Mizoram in Cluster VIII.
