London, October 22 (ANI/Business Wire India): Dr. Shan Nair, Co-founder of Nair and Co., a leading global integrated solution provider helping companies expand internationally, accepted the Gullands Excellence Award for achievement in science and business at a glittering ceremony held recently in London.

Founded by the NRI Institute, a prestigious global non-profit, the Gullands Excellence Awards are presented each year to a select group of Indians who achieve success globally.

"I'm honored to be presented this prestigious award. Jagmohan Singh (National General Secretary of the NRI Institute), Karan Bilimoria (chief executive of Cobra Beer), and the NRI Institute's U.K. chapter did an excellent job in producing the awards gala. I had the opportunity to meet successful NRIs from around the globe including Tanzania, Australia and Dubai. On a different note, I do believe that the NRI Institute's mission to invest in India is an important one and I wholeheartedly support it," Dr. Nair said after accepting the award from J.K. Chande, a prominent Tanzania-based businessman.

Jagmohan Singh, National General Secretary of the NRI Institute, added: "Dr. Shan Nair has been selected for his excellence in science research and IT Business. The NRI Institute is honored to recognize Dr. Shan Nair at this year's award gala."

An Oxford-educated scientist, Dr. Nair began his career in the UK nuclear industry. He worked as an accountant in early 1990s, and founded Nair and Co. in 1994 jointly with Vyoma Nair. He currently oversees the group's overall development, its policies, strategies and goals.

The Gullands Excellence Award adds to a growing list of accolades for Dr. Nair who received the 'Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business' award earlier this year.

Today, Nair and Co. supports over 700 client operations in over 40 countries. Headquartered in the U.K., Nair and Co. has key offices in India, China, U.S. and Japan. It offers a one-stop solution for companies seeking to make their overseas expansion less risky, stress free and more strategic in the finance, tax, HR, compliance and legal arenas.

With the Gullands Excellence Awards Dr. Nair has joined an illustrious list of past awardees that include Sam Pitroda, chairman of India's National Knowledge Commission (NKC); Lord Swaraj Paul, British parliamentarian and founder of Coparo Group; and Baron Karan Bilimoria, chief executive of Cobra Beer.

Bilimoria and Paul both attended the 2008 gala alongside Baroness Sandip Verma, member of the House of Lords, U.K. Members of Parliament Keith Vaz and Paramjit Dhanda, and Minister of State for Borders and Immigration Liam Byrne. Bilimoria congratulated Dr. Nair and the other awardees on their success, and termed the awards as a reflection of the Indian Diaspora's growing clout. (ANI)
