Credit card fraudster arrested in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad, Oct 16 (IANS) A man wanted in 23 cases of credit card fraud and vehicle thefts was arrested here Thursday, police said.
Manish alias Vishal Pravinchandra Kakadia, a resident of Surat, was nabbed from the state transport bus stand here Thursday afternoon.
Police recovered a laptop, four mobile phones, eight SIM cards, an ATM card and two diaries from him.
The diaries revealed different credit card numbers that were procured by paying executives of different banks and shopping mall workers, the police said.
Kakadia's modus operandi was simple. He would book airline tickets and then sell them for cash.
He had his accomplices in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi, who, after receiving the credit card details from him, booked the airline tickets.
He would then call the concerned banks on phone pretending to be the genuine owner of the cards, saying the card had been misused and payment should be stopped immediately.
Kakadia had made upto RS.3.5 million through this scam.
Police say that Kakadia was earlier involved in vehicle thefts.
