BJP accuses UPA of allowing homegrown terror take roots

Ranchi, Thu, 16 Oct 2008 ANI

Ranchi, Oct 16 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday accused the United Progressive Alliance Government of allowing homegrown terror to take root.

Senior BJP leader L K Advani claimed that when his party was in power, there were no incidents of local terrorists setting off blasts across the country.

"Terrorism was there when we were in power but there is a major difference between that time and now. At that time terror groups had connections with Pakistan but now homegrown terror outfits have come up in the form of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI)," said Advani.

"We will have to fight against it. This government cannot fight it. It has failed on all fronts and we have to remove this government from office," Advani said at a rally in Ranchi.

The Indian Mujahideen, an offshoot of the banned SIMI is allegedly behind the recent serial blasts in Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Delhi and Tripura. (ANI)
